Nurture Newsletter
October 20, 2014

Sometimes I feel like there is just too much fussing in this world - myself included. Every little thing can cause somebody to fuss about it.

God has been reminding me to just love people. That's all He wants. I don't need to preach at people every chance I get or force Jesus on others, no matter how badly they may need Him. I don't need to point out the error of anyone else's ways - that's God's job.

By simply loving others, I am introducing others to Jesus - through me. God is love and when we love others, God is revealed to them. I can lead by example instead of harsh words.

Lord, give me Your love for those around me so I can see them through Your eyes.

There are some great opportunities coming up and available to get involved in this fall! Check them out to see how you might be able to participate. Invite friends and neighbors or volunteer your time to help at an event. We can all do a little bit to make our community brighter as we shine the light of Jesus on those around us!

BLESSING TREE NOMINATIONS

Blessing Tree

This Christmas we want to be a blessing to those in our church family that financially might not be able to afford gifts this year.  If you or someone you know from our congregation could use some gifts this Christmas, please complete a form (found at the Hospitality Booth) and place in the offering or Connection Box.  We will take nominations through NOVEMBER 9th.

Community Opportunity

Elmbrook Church has started a program called "Walking School Bus".  The purpose is to assist Whittier students in getting to school on time and safely.  There are three starting locations, all within a mile of Whittier.  Volunteers meet there by 7:50 am and walk the students to school.  If you would like to be involved, please contact Jason Knapp at jknapp@elmbrook.org

NEXT WEEK

TRUNK OR TREAT

Our next community outreach is coming up this month!  This year's theme is "Animation Station."  Cars/Trunks will be decorated and children are encouraged to dress in their favorite animation character costume.  This year we have inflatables, rock wall, hayrides, and more!  Everything is FREE!  Please sign up in the foyer to help with the event or decorate a car.  We also are collecting LOTS of candy.  Candy should be individually wrapped and non-Halloween looking.  For questions, please contact Pastor Geoff at geoffc@waukeshafirst.org.

Everyone is welcome.  We will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Café with a potluck dinner (everyone is invited to bring a dish to pass, but it is not a requirement to attend).  After dinner we will be watching God's Not Dead. Please note there will not be a separate movie for the kids. Please contact Bud Beebe at (262) 620-3477 for more information.

If you ever have a specific prayer request, please don't hesitate to contact us at nurturewfa@hotmail.com.  We would be more than happy to cover you in prayer.
